Classroom Scenario Generator

Generates a discussion scenario about fairness, group dynamics or classroom situations — for guided class discussion, not a factual quiz question.

What this generator does

Draws a classroom situation to discuss — for teacher training, mentoring or a departmental meeting. Scenarios work better than principles because the disagreement is always about the specific case, and a scenario forces it into the open.

What you'll get

This generator draws from a hand-checked list of 30 entries. Here is a spread of 6 of them, so you can see the style before you generate:

  • Two pupils disagree strongly about who's right — how should the discussion be handled fairly?
  • Someone makes a mistake in front of the whole class. What's the kindest response?
  • A pupil's work is suddenly far better than usual, and they will not say why.
  • Half the class has understood; the other half has not, and the lesson is half over.
  • A quiet pupil produces excellent written work and never speaks in class.
  • A pupil corrects you, publicly, and is right.

A fixed sample of the list, not a live draw — your own results are picked at random from all 30, without repeating until the list runs out. Original authoring for Generate Random — general classroom-discussion scenarios, subject-neutral.. Last reviewed 2026-09-03.

How to use this tool

  1. Press generate for a scenario.
  2. Discuss it as a class, or generate again.

Common use cases

  • PSHE or citizenship discussions
  • Group-dynamics teaching moments
  • Circle-time prompts

Randomness and fairness

Drawn uniformly with the browser's cryptographic random number generator, with no grading by seriousness.

For how randomness is produced across the whole site, see how Generate Random works.

Limitations and good to know

  • These are discussion prompts, not guidance. Nothing here tells you what the right response is, and a real situation must be handled under your school's own policies.
  • Anything involving safeguarding must go to your designated safeguarding lead, immediately and regardless of what any discussion concluded.
  • Scenarios are generic and will not match the specifics of a real case.
