What this generator does
Draws a map task — grid references, scale, contours, direction or route planning. Map skills are one of the few parts of geography that are unambiguously a skill, which means they respond to repeated short practice in a way that content does not.
What you'll get
This generator draws from a hand-checked list of 30 entries. Here is a spread of 6 of them, so you can see the style before you generate:
- Using an atlas or map, find a country that borders exactly three others.
- Identify the highest point shown on a section of the map.
- Identify the highest point shown and say how you can tell.
- Identify where the land is steepest without reading a single number.
- Find two routes between the same points and argue for one.
- Locate the nearest point of access for an emergency vehicle.
