Random Lane Assignment Generator
Randomly orders a list of competitors into numbered lanes — position 1 in the list is Lane 1, and so on — useful for races, swimming heats, or any event needing a fair lane draw.

Worked examples

- Enter all eight names and generate once for the whole heat's lane order, rather than assigning lanes one at a time by hand.

Limitations and good to know
- In serious competition lanes are usually seeded by qualifying time rather than drawn, because the middle lanes carry an advantage in some events. This is a fair draw, not a seeded one.
- Every competitor is equally likely to land in any lane, including the outer ones some events treat as less favourable — this draw does not compensate for that.
