What this generator does
Generates ratio questions with answers — sharing a quantity, scaling a recipe, or finding a missing part. Ratio is worth drilling separately from fractions because the notation looks similar and the reasoning is not: 2:3 and two-thirds describe different relationships between the same two numbers.

Randomness and fairness
Ratio parts and totals are drawn with the browser's cryptographic random number generator, constrained so that the answer divides exactly — a sharing question with a fractional answer tests arithmetic rather than ratio. A seed word rebuilds the same sheet later; it is for reproducibility, not cryptographic strength, so a seeded sheet is deterministic rather than unpredictable.

Common mistakes
- Reading 2:3 as two-thirds
- 2:3 means two parts to three parts, so two-fifths of the whole. The fraction with the same numbers is a different quantity.
- Dividing by the wrong number when sharing
- Add the parts first. Sharing £50 in the ratio 2:3 means dividing by five, not by two or three.
