What this generator does
Draws a prompt for observing something scientifically — what to attend to, measure or compare. Observation is a taught skill rather than a natural one: students told to 'observe' will describe colour and nothing else.
What you'll get
This generator draws from a hand-checked list of 30 entries. Here is a spread of 6 of them, so you can see the style before you generate:
- Watch the experiment for 60 seconds before writing anything down. What actually happened, in order?
- Note anything that stayed the same when you expected it to change.
- Describe the colour, texture and smell before touching anything.
- Describe the result without using the word you expect to be the explanation.
- Take a second reading before deciding the first one was wrong.
- Note the units for every number you write down, at the time you write it.
