Three Course Meal Generator
Generates a full starter-main-dessert combination — distinct from the site's single-dish meal-idea generator, for planning a proper sit-down meal rather than one dish.
What this generator does
Draws a starter, a main and a pudding as a set. Drawing all three together is the point: the hard part of planning a meal is not choosing any one course but making three of them work as a sequence without repeating a technique or a texture.
What you'll get
This generator draws from a hand-checked list of 9 entries. Here is a spread of 6 of them, so you can see the style before you generate:
- Starter: soup and bread. Main: roast dinner. Dessert: fruit crumble.
- Starter: garlic bread. Main: homemade pizza. Dessert: ice cream sundae.
- Starter: prawn cocktail. Main: fish and chips. Dessert: cheesecake.
- Starter: soup shooters. Main: stir-fry. Dessert: mango sorbet.
- Starter: spring rolls. Main: curry and rice. Dessert: mango sticky rice.
- Starter: caprese salad. Main: grilled steak. Dessert: chocolate mousse.
A fixed sample of the list, not a live draw — your own results are picked at random from all 9, without repeating until the list runs out. Original authoring for Generate Random — general meal-combination ideas.. Last reviewed 2026-07-18.
How to use this tool
- Press generate for a menu.
- Cook it, or generate again.
Common use cases
- Dinner-party menu planning
- Sunday roast alternatives
- Overcoming a meal-planning block
Randomness and fairness
Each course is drawn independently with the browser's cryptographic random number generator, so the three are not coordinated with each other. If two courses clash, draw again — the tool has no sense of how a menu balances.
For how randomness is produced across the whole site, see how Generate Random works.
Limitations and good to know
- The three courses are drawn independently, so nothing prevents two rich courses in a row.
- These are dish descriptions, not recipes — no quantities, temperatures or timings.
- Nothing here knows about allergies or dietary requirements. Check every course against who is eating.
