Argument Scene Generator
Generates a random argument or reconciliation scene between two characters — a dialogue-driven prompt for tension or resolution.
What this generator does
Draws a conflict or reconciliation scene between two characters. The useful ones are arguments where both people are partly right, because an argument with a correct side is a lecture — the reader knows who to back and stops paying attention to the other half of the dialogue.
What you'll get
This generator draws from a hand-checked list of 12 entries. Here is a spread of 6 of them, so you can see the style before you generate:
- Two characters argue over a decision made years ago that still hasn't been forgiven
- Two allies clash over how far they're willing to go to win
- Two characters who love each other argue about something neither actually cares about — it's really about something else
- Two characters reconcile mid-argument when one admits they were wrong first
- Two characters argue in front of others, forcing them to hold back what they really want to say
- Two characters make peace without either one having to apologise directly
A fixed sample of the list, not a live draw — your own results are picked at random from all 12, without repeating until the list runs out. Original authoring for Generate Random.. Last reviewed 2026-07-19.
How to use this tool
- Press generate for an argument scene idea.
Common use cases
- Writing exercises focused on dialogue
- Building tension between two characters
- Roleplay scene prompts
Practical tips
- Write what each character actually wants from the argument, which is rarely to be proved right. Arguments in fiction go wrong when both sides are arguing about the stated subject.
Entries are chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, so every entry on the list is equally likely. How Generate Random works.
