What this generator does

Rolls a six-sided die with six colour faces, for games and activities that need a colour chosen without anybody being seen to choose it. Six is the useful number precisely because it maps onto a physical die the room already understands.

Understanding the controls

Seed: Typing the same word replays the same colour roll, useful for checking a result again rather than for anything that needs to stay unpredictable. The sequence is deterministic, not cryptographic.

Worked examples

Assigning table groups by colour: Roll once per group and use the colour as that group's label for the session — six groups map neatly onto the six faces.

Randomness and fairness

All six colours are equally likely on every roll and rolls are independent, so the same colour repeating three times running is ordinary rather than a fault. Over sixty rolls each colour appears about ten times, and noticeably uneven runs within that are expected.

Nothing is recorded between rolls, so a run of team-colour assignments has to be tracked separately if you need a record.
