Custom Labelled Dice Generator

Rolls a 'die' with your own custom face labels — enter any words or short phrases, one per line, and get a fair random pick presented as a die roll rather than a plain list choice.

What this generator does

Rolls a die whose faces are words you supply instead of numbers, so the result reads as an instruction rather than a value. Useful for classroom activities, workout circuits and party games where the roll should say what to do.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter your custom face labels, one per line.
  2. Press roll for a fair random pick.

Understanding the controls

Face labels
One label per line. Each line becomes one face with an equal chance, so six labels give a one-in-six chance each. Repeating a label makes it correspondingly likelier.

Worked examples

A workout circuit die
Enter six exercises, one per line, and roll to decide what's next — the same fair-pick mechanism as a numbered die, with instructions instead of numbers.

Common use cases

  • Custom game design
  • Classroom activities with custom categories
  • Novelty decision-making

How this generator works

Each line you enter becomes one face of the die, all equally likely, and a roll is a single fair pick from that list using your browser's cryptographic random generator — the same underlying mechanism as the numbered dice rollers, just with words on the faces instead of numbers.

Limitations and good to know

  • There is no limit on how many faces you add, but every extra face dilutes the odds of the others — ten labels make each one a one-in-ten chance rather than one-in-six.
  • Duplicate labels are treated as separate faces, so listing the same word twice doubles its chance without showing any indication that you did.
  • Nothing is saved between visits; re-enter your labels each time you come back.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make some outcomes more likely than others?
Yes, by repeating a label on more than one line — each line is one equally likely face, so a label entered twice is twice as likely to come up as one entered once.
