Group Colour Assignment Generator

What this generator does

Splits a list of people into four fixed teams — Red, Blue, Green and Yellow — the same underlying split as the plain team generator, with the team names decided in advance instead of left as 'Team 1/2/3/4'.

Understanding the controls

Participants

One name per line. The tool divides them across the four colour teams as evenly as the list allows, spreading any remainder one person at a time so no team ends up more than one person larger than another.

Split into four named teams of 5, 5, 4 and 4 — Red Team, Blue Team, Green Team and Yellow Team — with the remainder spread one per team rather than piling onto one side.

How this generator works

The full list is shuffled once using your browser's cryptographic random generator, then dealt out one name at a time across the four colour teams in turn — the same dealing method the plain team and group generators use, which is what keeps the four sizes even automatically.

Limitations and good to know

• The four team names are fixed as Red Team, Blue Team, Green Team and Yellow Team. There is no way to rename them, add a fifth team, or choose a different team count — the plain team generator allows any number of teams instead.
• Team names are text labels only; nothing is rendered in an actual colour, so there is nothing here to check for colour-vision accessibility.
• Balanced by headcount only, exactly like the plain team generator. The tool knows nothing about skill, friendship groups or people who should be kept apart.

Privacy and your data

Names are assigned to colour teams entirely in your browser and are never uploaded or logged. They are stored between visits only if you save the list from the panel on this page, and then only in this browser.
