What this generator does

Draws a way to revise a topic rather than a topic to revise. That is the right level, because the evidence on revision is fairly consistent that the method matters more than the hours — retrieval and self-testing beat rereading by a wide margin, and rereading is what almost everybody does by default.

How this generator works

Draws one of ten fixed tasks — turning today's notes into ten flashcards, explaining the topic out loud to someone who has never heard of it — with a seed word available to set the same task for a whole class. The seed path is for reproducibility, not secrecy — a deterministic sequence rather than a secure one.

Randomness and fairness

Drawn uniformly with the browser's cryptographic random number generator, with no awareness of subject or exam.

Limitations and good to know

Ten tasks will repeat within a term of weekly revision sessions; there is no record of which ones you have already tried.
Every task names an activity, not a subject — 'today's topic' is whatever you are actually studying, which the generator has no way to know.

Practical tips

Anything that makes you retrieve from memory beats anything that makes you look at notes.
Do the challenge on a topic you think you already know; that is where the gap usually is.
