What this generator does

Draws an opening clause for a piece of writing. A starter does its work by removing the blank page rather than by being good — most students rewrite the opening later, and the ones who never start never get to that point.

How this generator works

Draws one of ten fixed fragments — 'nobody believed me when I said...', 'the door was locked, but somehow...' — with a seed word available to bring the same starter back for a whole-class writing exercise. The seed path swaps in a repeatable, non-cryptographic sequence in place of the secure one.

Limitations and good to know

Ten fragments will repeat across a term of weekly warm-ups; there is no record of which ones a class has already used.
All ten lean towards narrative fiction — there is nothing here for a persuasive, explanatory or poetic opening.

Practical tips

Give the whole class the same starter and read four aloud. The variety is the lesson.
Let students abandon the starter once they are going; its job is finished by the second sentence.
