Random Team-Building Activity Generator

Generates a random light team-building activity suited to a work meeting or team day — quick to explain and inclusive, not a full-day event. Draws one whole activity, with instructions, from a pool of 20.

What this generator does

Suggests an activity for a team, drawn from ones that work in an ordinary workplace rather than requiring an away day. It supplies the activity; whether it suits your team is your judgement.

What you'll get

This generator draws from a hand-checked list of 20 entries. Here is a spread of 6 of them, so you can see the style before you generate:

  • Two truths and a lie, work edition — share two real facts and one made-up 'fact' about your job.
  • Guess the colleague — describe a hobby anonymously and let the team guess whose it is.
  • Would-you-rather, work edition — pick between two work-themed hypothetical scenarios.
  • Paper tower — small groups get ten sheets of paper and five minutes to build the tallest free-standing tower.
  • First jobs — everyone says the first job they were paid for and one thing it taught them.
  • The user manual — each person shares two lines on how they work best and what to avoid.

A fixed sample of the list, not a live draw — your own results are picked at random from all 20, without repeating until the list runs out. Original HEKNO-curated light work team-building activities. Last reviewed 2026-10-01.

How this generator works

One activity is picked whole from a fixed pool of 20, each written as a short instruction someone could read aloud and run with no preparation ("Two truths and a lie, work edition") rather than a name that still needs explaining. Two want something first: the paper tower its paper, the recipe swap a day's notice.

Randomness and fairness

A seed word switches to a deterministic, non-cryptographic draw, so the same activity can be reused for a second team by giving out the word rather than the instructions themselves.

For how randomness is produced across the whole site, see how Generate Random works.

Limitations and good to know

  • 20 activities are in the pool, so a team running one a fortnight goes most of a year before a repeat.
  • Most assume everyone can speak and hear in the same session, and a few need people in one room; check accessibility and remote-participation needs before running one as written.

Practical tips

  • Check it works for anyone remote and anyone with a mobility or dietary constraint before announcing it.
  • Make participation genuinely optional. A compulsory team-building activity does the opposite of what it is for.
