Understanding the controls

Stations
One per line. Every lap works through all of them in the order shown, which is what makes it a circuit rather than a set of intervals.
Work and rest
The work at each station, and the short rest before moving to the next. Together these set the pace of a lap.
Rest between laps
The longer break after a full circuit. Leaving it equal to the station rest turns the whole session into one continuous run of stations.
Laps
How many times round. With the station count this fixes the total work, shown above the table as you change it.

Worked examples

4 stations, 3 laps, 45s work and 15s rest
12 work blocks, 9 short rests and 2 lap rests — about 13 minutes with a minute between laps.
One lap
No lap rest at all, because there is no second lap to rest before.
Equal rests
Setting the lap rest to match the station rest makes the whole circuit one continuous sequence.

How this generator works

A lap is every station worked once in order, with the short rest between them but not after the last one. The longer lap rest is added between laps and deliberately not after the final one, because a session ending on a rest wastes the last block. The total is summed from the blocks shown, so it always matches the sheet rather than being an estimate.

Randomness and fairness

Nothing is random unless you shuffle the station order, which changes the running order without changing the work. Every station still appears exactly once per lap however the shuffle lands. A seed makes that shuffle reproducible, which matters when the same circuit is run by two groups in different halls. It is deterministic, not cryptographic: the running order follows from the word.

Limitations and good to know

  • Every station is given the same work time, so a circuit mixing a heavy compound lift with a light mobility drill will overrun one and underrun the other.
  • Equipment and space are not modelled. A circuit needs its stations set up in advance, and the sheet cannot tell you that two of them need the same kit.
  • A circuit is usually run by a coach calling the changes, and the countdown here counts the station lengths rather than the reps inside them. If your stations are for reps and not for time, the clock has nothing to count.
  • With a group, the station count usually needs to match or exceed the number of people or pairs, which is a constraint the tool does not check.

Practical tips

  • Read the whole circuit before starting so you can set up the equipment once rather than between every station.
  • Scale the reps to what you can complete with good form on the last round, not the first.
