Grammar Practice Sentence Generator

Generates a random sentence containing a common grammar mistake for students to spot and correct — quick practice without writing new examples by hand.

What this generator does

Supplies a sentence to correct or analyse rather than a rule to learn, which is the practice half of grammar teaching. The punctuation practice generator does the same for punctuation specifically.

What you'll get

This generator draws from a hand-checked list of 10 entries. Here is a spread of 6 of them, so you can see the style before you generate:

  • Find the error: 'Me and him went to the store yesterday.'
  • Find the error: 'Their going to the beach this weekend.'
  • Find the error: 'The dog wagged it's tail happily.'
  • Find the error: 'Each of the students brought their own pencil case.' (Is 'their' correct here? Discuss.)
  • Find the error: 'I could of finished it sooner.'
  • Find the error: 'Who's book is this?'

A fixed sample of the list, not a live draw — your own results are picked at random from all 10, without repeating until the list runs out. Original HEKNO-curated grammar practice sentences with a deliberate error to spot. Last reviewed 2026-08-03.

How to use this tool

  1. Press generate for a sentence.
  2. Find and correct the error, then generate again.

Common use cases

  • English/language arts practice
  • Proofreading exercises
  • Quick classroom warm-ups

Practical tips

  • Ask pupils to explain the correction as well as making it — a fix without a reason does not transfer to the next sentence.
  • Use one sentence well rather than ten quickly; the discussion is where the learning happens.

Entries are chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, so every entry on the list is equally likely. How Generate Random works.
